Take part in the DEER study!

Written on: Thursday 13 October 2022

Our school has recently been approached by the Youth Resilience Unit based at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) to collaborate on a Barts Charity-funded project. The project, which will include pupils from Years 3, 4 and 5 from several schools in East London, will investigate what helps children to develop to “bounce back” from challenging events and thrive. Their findings will shed light on how schools, families and communities can help to support children when they go through difficult times.

Parents will receive more information about the study and a consent form to complete and return to your class teacher or the school office if you are happy for your child to participate. Alternatively, parents may access the information about the research study and complete the consent form via this link:

To say thank you to the school for supporting their study, the researchers have offered pupils in Years 3, 4 and 5 the opportunity to attend an interactive Science Show delivered by scientists from the Centre of the Cell; the session should be educational but also fun and ideal for budding scientists.

We hope that you will be able to join us in supporting this exciting new project!
