Key Questions from Parents Answered

At South Grove we have always believed that developing children holistically, not just academically, is the key to good learning.  We believe that children who feel emotionally secure, confident and motivated are able to make the best progress.   As a school we have always worked hard to get to know individual children so that we are then able to provide them with the things they need in order for them to make progress.

Since the beginning of the national lockdown, our challenge has been to adapt our approach to teaching and learning into a new environment, with alternative methods of delivery.  Moving to a remote learning world was a transition for us all and we have learned the best ways to approach this for our school.

Our steep learning curve continues as we try to support all families with engaging with remote learning and ensuring that families have access to the quality learning that we are providing. We understand that children and their families have different commitments and needs during this time. Therefore, the school has tried to design a learning structure that would give families and their children the learning support they need.

Our key foci for learning provision during these times have been:

Below is a step-by-step guideline of how to get onto Google Classrooms with your child. They are practicing getting onto this weekly within school. If parents do have any issues with this please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher via the Year Team e-mail address.

If you are unable to access these websites, please email: homelearning@southgrove.waltham.sch.uk

It is intended that by selecting your child’s Year Group their  latest learning will be shared with you. The purpose of these is to show  the children’s topics  and learning experiences at school with  families and the wider community.

It will contain the highlights of their topics and learning experiences, including educational visits each Half-Term.

We hope you enjoy them!

Online safety

Online safety is very important to us. We only post pictures of children when we have received parental consent. This is normally when children are admitted to the school. We do not post pictures of children with their names unless we have special permission for specific events. If children’s circumstances change please let the school office know.

If a parents or carer wishes for a photograph to be removed from the school website, they should put this in writing to the school office. Parents requesting this may be invited for a meeting with a member of the leadership team.
