1W's Class Assembly
We were treated to 1W’s class assembly on Friday, ‘What is it made of.’ Wow what an information packed assembly it was too! The children had done so many things based around the story of ‘The Tin Forest,’ by Helen Ward and Wayne Anderson. This is the story of a man who dreams of a real forest and builds one out of tin until finally one day it becomes a real place with trees, birds and animals.
They showcased with us their really detailed paintings of a tiger in the forest using inspiration from Henry Rousseau’s famous painting of ‘The Tiger in a Tropical Storm.’
The children had approached them creatively in many different ways, they looked amazing.
Using recycled materials as part of the children’s home learning projects enabled them to create some very imaginative projects including tin robots! Well done to all families that supported their children to create some really creative ideas using rubbish!
With a focus on materials the children clearly developed some scientific skills in identifying and testing out materials that gave them the best waterproof protection.
The children, as part of their topic, had also learnt about the bird, the swift and what made them so special.
A few facts…..the common swift is a remarkable aerial bird that spends nearly its entire life on the wing, sleeping, and eating while flying. They rarely touch the ground, only landing to nest. Key features include their immense speed—fastest level flight at 69mph—and incredible, non-stop migratory journeys.
1W sang the hello song, a song called ‘Just Sing,’ and a Goodbye Song to finish.
The children thanked everyone for coming and they were very pleased with their performance as was Ms Winter, Mrs Patel and Mrs Lewis. Well done everyone!
Parents were also pleased and proud too:
Fantastic show, well done everyone – absolutely loved your robot dance!
