Girls Football
Last Tuesday, nine girls from Years 5 and 6 went to Chingford Goals to represent the school in the UKS2 football tournament. Martialled by our super-skipper Ida, we swept imperiously through the group stage with some cracking goals from Bianca, Zainab and Janae. In midfield, we had out rock - Olivia - who was the heartbeat of the team and the non-stop energy of Connie and Emilia. Pola backed them up with great defensive play. We went into the quarter final with a record of four wins and one draw. In the quarter, we played Davis Lane. It was a tightly contested game with few chances and Rosie saved us with some great saves. However, with the last kick of the game, they somehow managed to squeeze in a goal and end our participation in the competition.
Despite the elimination, the girls represented the school superbly and gave their all. A special mention needs to be given to Yara, who was our player of the tournament. She was tireless in her running and pressing and never gave an inch - it was an impressive display! A big thank you to all that participated and to Mrs Hunter-Leitch, who helped everyone stay calm and measured throughout!
