Super hot Summer Music Concert
Music -- Summer Concert -- July2025
We were thoroughly spoilt on Friday with a fantastic Summer Music Concert organised brilliantly once again by Ms Forbes during Friday’s whole school assembly that truly showcased the work that children across the school had been learning in Music.
To begin to immerse us into what we were going to experience Aaron played a piano solo of ‘When You Wish Upon A Star.’
Thina Simunye (Zulu: we are family) was beautifully sung by the choir with children that sang solos as part of this. It was a beautiful song that everyone loved. Everyone then had the opportunity to join in with the whole school song Flow Like a River, with solo’s from Abena and Nicholas.
Reception children wowed us with their learning in Music with Ms Forbes. They sang Old House whilst a group shared how they have developed their early chime bar skills. They received a wonderful round of applause for their obvious enjoyment and confidence to a very large audience.
PLM showed their rhythm when they danced to the song ‘Better When You’re Dancing,’ using shakers followed by our Year 1 budding song writers as they performed a song that they had written called ‘The Tempo Song.’
Next out Purple Alligators Guitar Club performed Shotgun in their funkiest shades and hats! They did really well, ably assisted by Holly, their tutor on the drums. They were followed by our drumming club performing Believer with Ms Forbes. Their rhythm was amazing.
The Strumming Superstars performed next, again with Holly, playing what she said was an ambitious tune, ‘Fast Car.’ We did not need to worry as they performed amazingly confidently.
The children have been involved in the Royal Opera House Project. The song the children sang, called ‘The Hope’ was based on the story of a refugee. Miss MacFarlane sang in
We were treated next to Olivia playing her bass guitar and she had a mystery guest performing on the drums with her….we believe we knew him as Mr Perna….Everyone sang along.
Our final song ‘What’s It Worth Planet Earth?’ was sung by the whole school.
It was amazing to see how much the children performing had grown in confidence and performing across the school. It of course could not be done without the hard work of Ms Forbes organizing the concert. Our special thanks go to Holly, Mr Perna and Miss MacFarlane.
So many instruments and so many smiles from parents. It’s one part of what South Grove does best!
Our large parent and carer audience loved the concert as you can see from the comments below:
Wonderful assembly. What a talented bunch! Well done Ms Forbes. Also loved the drums.
