Year 2 Shine at Royal Opera House 'Create Day'

On July 8th, our enthusiastic Year 2 pupils took part in the Royal Opera House’s inspiring ‘Create Day’, a celebration of creativity and children’s rights. This year’s event was linked to our Rights Respecting School theme, with a special focus on Article 31: the right to play.

The children explored the moving story of Little Amal, a giant puppet who walked all the way from Syria to the Royal Opera House, symbolising hope for refugee children around the world. Inspired by her journey, the pupils made their own beautiful 'boxes of hope' out of origami, showing wonderful teamwork and creativity.

As part of the celebration, the children proudly performed their song ‘The Hope’ in the school’s summer concert. Their performance was a heartfelt reminder of the power of art to express resilience, compassion, and unity.

Well done, Year 2!
