Year 3 Make Music with Science in Conductive Music Workshop

Last week, our Year 3 pupils took part in an exciting Conductive Music workshop that blended creativity, technology, and science. The session was led by Miss Jones, a visiting teacher from conductivemusic.co.uk and organised by Ms Forbes as part of a special programme offered by the Waltham Forest Music Service.

Using Makey Makey circuit boards, pupils connected probes to themselves, different body parts, and even a plastic ruler to turn them into unique sound sources. With each connection, they discovered how electricity and conductivity could be used to trigger notes, beats, and effects through computer software.

Throughout the workshop, pupils applied their skills in Science, Maths, and I.T., learning about circuits, patterns, and coding logic while composing their own interactive music pieces. Each group experimented, collaborated, and performed their digital sound creations.

The session was a perfect example of how technology and imagination can come together to inspire learning. A huge thank you to Miss Jones and the Waltham Forest Music Service for an unforgettable day of discovery, innovation, and music-making.
