Year 4 Enter the Enchanting world of Claude Monet

In Year 4, we have embarked on an exciting artistic adventure, delving into the enchanting world of Claude Monet. We have been exploring the techniques that made his artwork so captivating, particularly focusing on the use of overlapping colours. Through our experiments, we have discovered how to create soft circles and delicate fine lines, which help to recreate the dreamy effects seen in Monet’s famous pieces.

The children have thoroughly enjoyed layering colours to achieve the gentle hues that characterise Monet’s work, learning how to build up these colours to add depth and dimension to their creations. As they worked, we discussed the importance of light and shadow, and how Monet captured the beauty of nature in his paintings.
