Year 6 explore a most fascinating concept in biology- evolution!
This week in Science, Year 6 have been exploring one of the most fascinating concepts in biology- evolution! The children have been learning about Charles Darwin and took part in an exciting Science experiment called ‘Battle of the Beaks’. As part of their learning about evolution and adaptation, the children used different tools to represent bird beaks and tested how well they could pick up various foods like seeds and raisins.
The experiment showed how some beak shapes are better suited to certain food sources- just like in nature! It was a fun and hands-on way to understand how animals adapt to survive in their environments.
