Year Five Adopt a Chef
Year 5 took part in their first Adopt a School Chef session, where they explored a variety of unfamiliar foods, including chicory, samphire and rhubarb. They learned about the Eatwell Guide, identifying different food groups and discussing why each is important for a healthy diet. The session also introduced seasonal fruits and vegetables, helping the children understand what seasonal means and why it matters.
To finish, the children enjoyed a tasting session where they were encouraged to try a range of foods. They used their senses to explore flavours, describing what they tasted and where they noticed the flavours most on their tongues. The children proudly wore their hats and aprons and are already looking forward to the rest of the sessions.
