Year Four Commit to Sustainable Travel
Year 4 have been working hard this week during their Walk to School Week. As part of our commitment to sustainable travel and environmental awareness, the children have designed incredible dual-perspective posters contrasting two very different types of urban environments. One side shows a pollinator friendly street and the other a harmful street. Can you see which is which?
We discussed how reducing car journeys can directly help our local climate and air quality. In addition, we learned that primary school children are particularly vulnerable to air pollution, and that adding simple things like planters can transform a concrete street into a safe haven for vital pollinators like bees and butterflies.
As a cohort, we have pledged to help pollinators by walking, scooting or cycling to school as often as we can.
